Help & FAQ

How the platform works — accounts, races, ratings and technical questions.

Accounts

Do I need an iRacing ID to sign up?

Yes — your iRacing customer ID is how we link race results and on-site lap times to your account. Enter it at sign-up, or add it later in your settings.

I forgot my password. What now?

Use the "Forgot password?" link on the log-in page. We email a link that works once and expires after 60 minutes. Setting a new password signs you out everywhere else.

Can I hide my profile?

Yes. Turn on "Private profile" in settings and your stats, results and rating history are hidden from everyone but you.

Races & leagues

How do I enter a race?

Open the race and press Enter. You can withdraw any time before it starts. If the grid is full you will see "Grid full" instead.

What do the skill bands mean?

Beginner is under 1500 Grid Rating, Intermediate 1500–1800, Advanced 1800 and above. They are guidance, not a gate — you are never blocked from entering on rating alone.

When are results published?

Whenever the organiser uploads them. Ratings and standings recalculate immediately, and you are notified on Discord if you have it switched on.

Ratings & rules

How is my Grid Rating calculated?

It is an Elo-style rating seeded at 1500. You take points from every driver you beat and give points to everyone who beats you, scaled by the gap in rating. Only finishing order counts, so it cannot be farmed by qualifying well and parking.

What is Safety Rating?

A separate 0.00–4.99 score driven purely by incidents per lap, with a letter class from A to R. You can finish last every week and still climb it.

Technical

How do I get Discord notifications?

In your Discord server open Server Settings → Integrations → Webhooks, copy the webhook URL, and paste it into your settings on The Grid. Then choose which notifications you want.

Something is broken. Where do I report it?

Use the Support page. You do not need an account to file a report, and we capture the page and browser automatically so you do not have to describe them.

Still stuck?

Send us a message and we will get back to you.
